This feature allows a racetrack to download their tax data to a file in a format specified by the IRS. This file can then be uploaded to the IRS FIRE website (Filing Information Returns Electronically) for processing.
Enter the Tax Year: Enter the four digit number of the year for which you want to print the tax data.
Form Type: From the dropdown box, choose from 1099, 1042 or 592b
File Type: Choose from Original, Replacement, Correction or Test
Selecting the 'Generate' button will begin the download process. When the file is complete the screen will display the following message:
Click on the 'irs_tax link and the following box will appear:
We recommend saving the file to your desktop or network drive and then copying to a CD for safe keeping.
Press 'Save' and then navigate to the location where you want to save the file. It should be named IRSTAX (without a file extension per IRS instructions).
The file is now ready for submission via the IRS FIRE site at: https://fire.irs.gov
To review the data in the file, we suggest opening the file with a ‘Text Editor’ such as TextPad or PSPad. Word Editors such as WordPad or NotePad have been known to imbed ‘null’ characters or add carriage return/line feeds at the end of each record which can cause the file to be rejected.
